Each of us has an idea of who Isa’ al-Masih was but often it’s based upon our culture and religion, instead of the real events in the life of Isa Masih.
I’ve recently been looking at the events of the life of Isa’ ibn-Maryam, the things he said and did, trying to work out for myself who he really was. I didn’t want to believe just what I’ve been told to believe. Here’s what I came up with:
Isa started his work as Allah’s prophet with the following words:
‘The time has come. The Kingdom of Allah is near. Repent and believe the good news!’
The time has come… the Kingdom of Allah is near. What time? What is this Kingdom?
In my research I discovered that in the Scriptures which Isa Masih read, the Taurat, the prophets talked about a future time when Allah would establish His sovereign rule over the earth, and everyone would experience peace and righteousness, when the people of Allah would experience deliverance from the evil one. This is the Kingdom of Allah, where life is how Allah intended it
I also read that this would happen with the coming of ‘the anointed one’, al Masih, who is the servant of Allah and through whom Allah would establish His reign over the earth. Therefore, Isa ibn Maryam claimed to be al-Masih, the Messiah. The message of Isa al Masih was this: that in him and through him Allah was establishing the Kingdom.
Isa Masih proved his message to be the truth by doing miracles in front of the people. It is well known that Isa al Masih was a miracle worker, but what I discovered was that his miracles were signs of the Kingdom of Allah!
Isa Masih healed the sick, cleansed lepers, made the lame walk, gave sight to the blind and even raised the dead. It was prophesied in the Taurat that al-Masih would do this:
‘Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped.
Then will the lame leap like a deer,
and the mute tongue shout for joy.’
What is the significance of this? Disease and death are consequences of sin and evil in the world. By healing and raising the dead Isa Masih was delivering people from the powers of darkness. The reign of Allah was replacing the reign of the evil one on this earth. I found out that the meaning of the miracles ‘Isa performed was to show the reality of the power of Allah to deliver people from evil.
What does all this mean for us now? Isa Masih invites us to become part of his community of people who now live in the Kingdom of Allah. How does one do this? It is by walking with Isa Masih each day, enjoying his presence and power within our hearts and minds. It is by allowing the power of Allah to set us free from the sins of our lives.
Perhaps you feel there are many sins in your life, or you are experiencing much suffering. It is for this reason that Allah sent Isa Masih into the world, so that you can be set free from the evil one.
This website is building a community of people who want to be a part of the Kingdom of Allah that Isa Masih has started. Why not tell us your story and be a part of our community?
